Calcium after bariatric surgery

Additional calcium supplementation is recommended after various types of bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, mini gastric bypass, SADI and SASI. After bariatric surgery, it may be more difficult to get enough calcium from your diet. Certain procedures can also reduce calcium absorption.

How much calcium do you need after bariatric surgery?

Recommendations may vary depending on your country, hospital and type of surgery. Generally, 1,000 to 1,500 mg of calcium per day is recommended after bariatric surgery. This is equivalent to two to three WLS Original Calcium Soft Chews.

How to take Calcium Soft Chews

Spread your Calcium Soft Chews throughout the day, leaving at least two hours between doses.

Do not take Calcium Soft Chews at the same time as your multivitamin. Leave at least two hours between taking them to support optimal absorption of calcium and the nutrients in your multivitamin.
